Miele is an absolute powerhouse within the Domestic appliance market.

The brand overall commands the highest respect for producing the very highest level of quality and products which achieve unrivalled longevity.

This is a brand that you have to “get” otherwise you will not consider spending the kind of money that Miele charge for anything.

If you are looking at a Miele coffee machine then probably own or have owned a Miele product in the past and you understand what they bring to the table.

Here is the important message if you are considering buying Miele.

An average Miele product will cost you twice as much as another brand that looks like the features are the same BUT it will probably last three times as long.

To give you a specific example of this, as part of their marketing material for the CM6150 bean to cup coffee machine they quote a “quality guarantee” that states that the machine has been manufactured and tested to produce 25,000 cups of coffee. If you make 3 cups of coffee a day that’s 22 years of use.

No other manufacturer comes even close to making those kinds of bold statements.

I have personally owned a Miele washing machine that lasted for 15 years so I can vouch for the longevity of the products they produce.

It’s a bit of a leap of faith with Miele as you will pay more upfront but they can easily work out the cheapest in the end because you may buy two or three others before you replace this one.

Let’s have a look at what this coffee machine has to offer.

Overall Score 9.6/10

Design 9/10

This review is for the graphite grey finish but it also comes in two other colours as well – Black or White

All three look great so it’s just a matter of personal choice and the colour scheme of your kitchen.

This is an extremely clean design with no fuss. There are no buttons or dials just an LCD display and some digital icons for drink selection which sit flush on the front panel.

If you like minimalist then you will like this.

This coffee machine has a presence of its own whilst at the same time will blend in with most kitchens but is certainly most suited to a contemporary setting.

At 35.9cm tall, 42.7cm deep and just 25.1cm wide this is a little smaller than the average and more compact in width.

Functionality 10/10

Firstly, the cup warmer on top. This is an often overlooked function. Coffee tastes better when you don’t pour it straight into a cold cup so turn on the cup warmer and use it. It’s a good feature.

The central spout that delivers the coffee moves up and down to accommodate different sized glasses and cups to avoid mess and less distance also affects the quality of the crema so always move the spout near the top of the cup or glass you are using.

The water container is above average at 1.8 litres and the bean container average size, holding up to 300g of coffee beans.

Miele makes it super easy for you to select one of the most popular drinks available by giving you 4 options to start with. Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino and Latte.
For cappuccino and latte, you simply attached the supplied pipe into the machine and the other end into the bottle or carton of milk and the Miele CM6150 will do the rest for you.

You start with extreme simplicity but you can also tailor each drink to your hearts content. Once you have found the exact way you like it you then create a profile with your name and forevermore you only need to press one button to get your exact perfect drink each time.

You can adjust the temperature of the water. The amount of coffee that gets ground is between 6-14g per cup and you can choose the level that works best for your taste. You can also adjust the amount of water that is delivered. All of the components that make up a great cup of coffee can be individually personalised.

A function you won’t see on most bean to cup machines is the ability to brew a pot of coffee. With this machine, you can choose up to 8 cups in one go and it will deliver them one after the other into a pot without you having to select each individually.

Miele really cares about giving you a great coffee. We have reviewed lots of different machines but never before have we seen a recommendation for lowering the brewing temperature if you are at more than 2000 metres above sea level due to the boiling point of water being lower at high altitudes.

We are not convinced that will really make much difference but the very fact that they think at that level of detail adds credibility to the brand.

Ease of use 10/10

This coffee machine is a real delight. No dials, no knobs, no levers. All the controls are flush to the machine and activated with one touch.

Miele has really thought this through to make it as easy as possible.

Quality of coffee 10/10

When you buy a coffee machine of this quality you need to ensure that the quality of the coffee matches it.

Avoid the cheap supermarket stuff and make coffee drinking an experience. Choose better whole coffee beans

Value For Money 9/10

Because of its price this coffee machine is not going to be for everyone as it needs to be appreciated for the main hidden benefits that it brings to the table.

Peace of mind from a top-quality brand and the knowledge that this will last you for many years.

This is an investment that will certainly pay dividends if you give it a chance.
