Tassimo coffee machines are specifically made for anyone that wants to enjoy a cup of coffee that tastes better than coffee granules you find inside a jar of instant coffee.

Most people in the UK still buy instant coffee and that’s why coffee tastes so good when you pay £3 for one in a coffee shop.

Instant coffee is the cheapest and lowest quality coffee you can buy and Tassimo coffee machines bridge the gap between a jar of instant coffee and the coffee you find in Starbucks or Costa.

If you want to drink coffee that is better than the cheap nasty stuff from the supermarket then a Tassimo coffee machine is a good option to consider.

There are a number of key benefits to using a pod coffee machine like Tassimo or Dolce Gusto:

They are cheap. If you want better coffee but you have a limited budget Tassimo coffee machines are low cost and suitable if you don’t want to spend much on a machine.

It can also be very confusing to choose a coffee machine that is suited to your needs and you can spend anything from £20 to hundreds of pounds.

If you are choosing your first coffee machine then you can buy a Tassimo without breaking the bank to see if it suits what you are looking for without taking the risk of a more expensive machine only to find you don’t like it.

They are incredibly easy to use. If you like the idea of a coffee machine but the coffee machines you see when you go to Costa look more like an alien than a coffee machine and you wouldn’t have a clue where to start then you don’t need to worry about any of that with Tassimo.

There are three main manufacturers when it comes to pod coffee machines, Nespresso, Tassimo and Dolce Gusto.

They are all slightly different in the way they work but Tassimo is the easiest.

There are many different drink types like Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, Americano and more and they all require a different amount of water added to the coffee and a different amount of milk.

With Dolce Gusto you need to choose the amount of water you have and with Nespresso there is a default but it doesn’t change when you want a different drink.

Tassimo is very clever in that respect because every pod has a barcode on it that tells the machine exactly how much water to deliver and how much milk to deliver into your cup. You don’t need to do a thing or think about anything.

If you like cappuccino and someone else likes latte then it just knows what to do and you never need to program or set anything.

They are very popular. Tassimo is owned by Jacobs Douwe Egberts who are a very large company that own a number of coffee brands such as Kenco and L’or so they know a thing or two about coffee.

They have sold hundreds of thousands of these coffee machines over the years and they continue to be as popular as ever so if you go for one you will be joining a very large number of happy customers.

Let’s find out exactly why the Tassimo “Happy” coffee machine will make you happy.

Overall Score 9.9/10

Design 10/10

The beauty of this coffee machine is in its simplicity. Because the machine does everything for you during the coffee preparation process there are no steam arms sticking out of it or lots of knobs and dials.

If you like minimalist with no fuss then this is going to work for you. It’s a neutral yet pleasant shape in a matt black plastic but is also available in other funky colours like pink and red.

There is a drip tray to catch drips of coffee and milk in a nice stainless steel that blends in nicely with the rest of the machine.

The spout that the coffee comes out of is in a stainless-steel finish to match the drip tray and other than that you have the water tank on the bank that is fillable from the top.

Considering the very low price this is a well built pleasant to look at coffee machine.

Functionality 10/10

Normally the functionality section breaks down all of the different things that a coffee machine can do but its not really applicable with this coffee machine because the functionality is one button.

You open the top which is a lid that allows you to then place the pod inside. Close the lid and press the button on the front.

If you are not into tech and digital displays then the simplicity of this machine is going to appeal to you.

Ease Of Use 10/10

This is probably the easiest to use coffee machine available in the UK. All pod coffee machines are easy to use but Tassimo takes it to a whole new level.

With all pod coffee machines you just pop the pod in and press a button but if you like to try different drink types like cappuccino or latte or flat white or more than one of you use the machine you have to make adjustments like changing the amount of water that is delivered

But due to the barcode that Tassimo put on every pod you don’t need to do or think about anything regardless of the drink type.

Just open the top, put the pod in and press the button on the front and that’s it. The machine will deliver the exact cup of coffee according to the capsule type.

When compared to all other coffee machines the Happy is the ultimate when it comes to ease of use

Here is a short video showing exactly how it works and how easy it is to use:

Quality of coffee 9/10

Each pod contains ground coffee which is then vacuum packed for freshness. It’s not as good as grinding freshly ground coffee beans yourself but its pretty close.

If you like milk-based drinks like a latte or flat white then a way to save money on the pods is to buy the espresso pods and then use a milk frother to heat fresh milk yourself.

Fresh milk tases better than the liquid creamer Tassimo use in their milk pods and its cheaper as well.

Value For Money 10/10

A sturdy, good looking machine that is built to last at a very affordable price.
