- ✅ TWO CUP ESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE — The Geepas Espresso Machine can make one or two espresso shots at a time. It’s ideal for those who want to recreate the barista coffee experience at home.
We have been pretty impressed with the Geepas brand on the coffee maker front so far and have recommended their budget filter coffee machine for some time.
They have proven themselves more than capable of offering a product that performs as well as some of the more expensive brands without compromising on quality.
The Geepas espresso machine is another good example of where they have managed to take the best features of the entry-level espresso machines from the well established brands like Delonghi and package them into a well designed, functional appliance that delivers the goods.
A comparable product would be the Delonghi ECP31.21 pump espresso machine that basically does the same as this Geepas espresso machine except the Geepas is cheaper and arguably looks better as well.
If you are not bothered about brand names and you want something basic that simply delivers a double espresso at the touch of a button and has a powerful steam wand that will enable you to froth up some milk and convert those espresso’s into your favourite milk-based drinks such as Cappuccino or Latte then this is well worth considering.
Overall Score 9.8/10
Design 9/10
You can’t really expect much from a design perspective at this price level but Geepas have surpassed our expectations.
They have taken the time to add some chrome to the all-black, shiny, piano black and have produced a coffee machine that looks like its worth a fair bit more than what they are asking.
There is a chrome drip tray, some silver edging across the front and a circular chrome finish around the control dial on the front of the machine.
Geepas are to be commended for adding a design element to a budget coffee machine that you would normally only hope to get functional performance from. In our opinion, it looks better than the Delonghi equivalent (link above).
It also has a really compact overall footprint so if space is an issue or you just don’t want your coffee machine to take up much space on your worksurface then this will be ideal.
At 26.9 cm deep, 20cm wide and 29.5cm tall this is smaller than average for a coffee machine of this type.
Functionality 10/10
If you want something simple that does what it says on the tin then you are on the right path with this coffee machine.
You can easily pay upwards of £500 for a pump espresso machine that offers all sorts of functionality such as multiple drink choices, variable water volume delivery, dual boilers for steaming milk and delivering coffee at the same time, integrated coffee grinders and much more.
At the end of the day, you will still get an espresso delivered into your glass or cup. It just depends on how much you want to automate and fine-tune the process.
With the Geepas espresso machine, you don’t get any of the fancy stuff you get on the more expensive machines but if you use it in the correct way you can still get a great cup of coffee for a fraction of the price of the more expensive pump espresso machines.
One dial on the front does everything. Once your coffee has been ground and tamped and the portafilter inserted into the machine all you do is turn the dial to the left to begin water delivery.
Once the correct amount of coffee has been delivered simply turn the dial back to the middle to stop the water flow.
To get the most from this coffee machine follow the tips below.
Turn the dial to the right to start the steam wand for milk heating and frothing.
If you are making milk-based drinks then make the coffee first then heat the milk second so that the boiler delivers the water through the coffee at the correct temperature.
It comes with a 1.25 litres water tank which is easily removable or you can fill it up from the top without removing it from the machine.
If you follow these tips then you will be able to produce a great cup of coffee with this coffee machine:
1. You want a double espresso to be delivered in about 25 seconds. With this type of machine, you have full control over that yourself.
2. The amount of coffee you use should be around 20 grams for a double espresso and you need to compress (tamp) the coffee in the portafilter before you insert it into the machine and start the coffee delivery.
3. Don’t worry too much about exactly 20 grams, just fill up the portafilter with freshly ground coffee and push it down with the supplied tamper.
4. You will know when you have got the coffee dose and tamping pressure right when you get your coffee delivered in about 25 seconds.
5. If your glass or cup fills up in say 10 seconds you don’t have enough coffee or you haven’t compressed the coffee enough and it will be weak and watery.
6. On the other hand, if the coffee just drips though and it takes a minute or more to fill up your cup then you have too much coffee or you have compressed the coffee too much and you will get an equally poor tasting coffee.
7. It’s important to get the balance just right and with a few tries, you can perfect it and enjoy a great coffee from this low-cost espresso machine.
Ease of use 10/10
This is as easy as it gets from an espresso machine perspective. One dial at the front controls coffee delivery and the steam wand and well…….. that’s it. It really is a simple as it possibly could be.
Quality of coffee 9/10
If you use this coffee machine correctly it will produce a coffee on par with one you would normally expect to pay £3 for in a coffee shop.
Buy the best coffee that you can afford and grind whole beans yourself just before brewing for the best results.
Coffee grinders are a lot cheaper than you think.
Value For Money 10/10
We like the fact that Geepas are willing to put a 2-year guarantee behind a product that is as inexpensive as this one
It gives you confidence they have committed to producing a coffee machine that is not going to develop any faults for at least 2 years and probably a lot longer.
Normally at this price point, you would only receive a 1-year guarantee from plenty of other manufacturers.
It makes a good cup of coffee and it is very simple to use. At this price level, it won’t take you very many homemade cappuccinos to quickly get your money back compared to buying those coffees from one of the high street coffee chains.
