This is the cheapest and most effective way to get the thickest, creamiest froth for your Cappuccino or Latte.
The Bodum milk frother delivers perfect results every time (with a little help from you)
The best thing about this milk frother is that you can tailor how much you want your milk to be frothed exactly how you like it.
Electric milk frothers are all the rage but you only get three settings – hot milk, hot frothed milk and cold frothed milk.
You will pay anything from £30 upwards for an electric milk frother and you need to accept whatever it delivers on each setting but with a manual milk frother you can produce whatever you want.
We think that this manual milk frother is the cheapest way to get milk froth and also the best – better than an electric version.
Electric milk frothers are extremely popular but they are prone to not making the milk hot enough for some people and also the froth setting may be too frothy for some and not frothy enough for others.
This Bodum manual milk frother does require a small amount of effort but in our opinion, it’s worth it.
It kind of looks a bit like a cafetière but instead of a mesh plunger it has a whisk. It comes in two parts – a glass jug and the lid with whisk plunger.
Simply fill up the jug to the maximum line and place the lid onto the jug and start plunging up and down.
You can see into the glass to monitor how frothy the milk has become and it is surprising how quickly and with how little effort you need to apply to get a very thick creamy froth.
About 15 seconds of plunging will give you nice creamy milk with some froth and 30-40 seconds pretty much turns the milk into a solid thick almost meringue type look.
The great thing about this frother is that it is that the glass jug is completely microwave safe so if you want hot frothy milk just place the jug with milk in straight into the microwave for 50-60 seconds to heat it first and then you can froth to your heart’s content.
The benefit of this over an electric milk frother is that you can heat your milk to as hot as you like whereas an electric milk frother has a default setting that may not be hot enough for you and you also with the Bodum milk frother you get to see the froth as you froth it so you can stop when it gets to a level that you like best.
An electric milk frother will take around 2-3 minutes to heat your milk up but you can do it yourself with this manual frother in around 1 minute.
If you have a Nespresso machine this is the ideal accompaniment for all milk-based drinks and avoids the need to splash out on Nespresso’s expensive electric aeroccino milk frother.
It also works brilliantly with a Tassimo or Dolce Gusto pod machine. These pod machines do have milk capsules but we would recommend against using those because firstly they are expensive compared to using fresh milk but also the flavour is very poor because the milk capsules use powdered milk.
So, by all means, use the coffee capsules for Tassimo and Dolce Gusto but use this fresh milk frother for the milk – its tastes much better and its cheaper.
Also great as a gift, this milk frother from Bodum lets you control the milk exactly how you like it and it represents great value for money compared to an electric version.
