These beans are roasted in England by a British company and are highly recommended by many people that have already bought them and thoroughly enjoy this coffee. On that basis alone they are well worth a try.

If you want to make a great cup of coffee it always starts with the coffee beans. You can have a top of the range coffee machine but with bad coffee, you will get a bad cup of coffee.

On the flip side, you can take some great coffee beans and with a cheap coffee machine you can still make a cup of coffee which would embarrass the high street coffee shops.

A 1kg bag of coffee beans will produce approximately 100 cups of coffee depending on how mild or strong you like it. You can buy a 1kg bag for as little as £10 or even less which equates to around 10p per cup but if you are willing to pay 15p – 20p per cup you will get a significantly better quality beverage.

At first glance paying £15 – £20 per kg may seem expensive but if you compare that to what you pay in a coffee shop it works out at around £125 per kg or more and the coffee is not that great!

The more recent and freshly roasted your coffee beans are, the better they will taste. If you go to Starbucks and look at their coffee beans it is not uncommon to find beans that are 3-6 months from their roasting date.

Spiller & Tate are a British company that roast all of their coffee beans in the UK and ship them within 7 days of roasting to ensure maximum flavour so if you are a fan of keeping it British and want a fresh, quality product then this is a good place to start.

Coffee is very much a personal thing and there are so many to choose from so where do you start when it comes to finding what works best for you?

Our best advice is to try as many as you can as frequently as possible. It is unlikely that you will buy something that you hate so it’s not going to go to waste and you may well come across a gem that you absolutely love and would never have found if you just stuck to the same thing over and over again.

Roast

Coffee beans can be blended together from different countries to create a specific flavour or if they originate from one location only thy are call single origin.

The Spiller & Tate Pure Colombia Huila Coffee Beans are imported exclusively from the Huila region of Colombia which sits within the Andes mountain ranges.

Champagne can only be named that way if it is produced from grapes that were grown in the Champagne region of France and in the same way the Huila region is renowned for producing some of the finest coffee in Colombia and has been awarded Denomination Of Origin status to recognise this fact.

This is a medium roast coffee that produces a light brown bean that will be smoother and richer than the average Colombian coffee.

Body & Aroma

The soil where this coffee is grown transfers into the flavour of the coffee and produces fruity characteristics with blackcurrant tones and a sweet caramel aroma.

Intensity

Rated as a 3 by Spiller & Tate this is a sweet coffee that should not require too much sugar if any and works as well in the evening as it does for breakfast.

Suitability

This coffee works brilliantly more coarsely ground for use in a cafetiere or a filter coffee machine but is also well suited to all types of coffee machine including bean to cup for espresso based drinks such as cappuccino or latte.
