Tassimo produces coffee machines for home use that are easy to use, but what capsules are compatible with Tassimo coffee machines? Lots of coffee machines are only compatible with their manufacturer’s coffee capsules, but what about Tassimo?
You do not want to end up buying coffee capsules for your Tassimo coffee machine that will not fit, so you must find out what capsules are compatible before you buy. This will save you money and ensure that you can enjoy your morning coffee!
Discover what capsules are compatible with your Tassimo machine to make sure that you get the correct ones to fit in your machine.
What Makes Tassimo Capsules Unique?
There are lots of coffee capsules that are compatible with different machines, but lots of manufacturers have coffee machines that are only compatible with their brand of coffee capsules.
Tassimo has its brand of coffee capsules that are not called capsules, but T-Discs. These T-Discs have their barcode that can only be used in Tassimo machines as they are the only machines that can recognize the barcodes, which Bosch has named Intellibrew.
The barcodes are unique and can only be scanned by Tassimo machines and they can’t be used by capsules that have tried to mimic the barcode. As Tassimo machines can only scan Tassimo-made barcodes, you will need to make sure that you buy the correct T-Discs.
As the barcodes are unique to Bosch, Tassimo capsules are not compatible with Dolce Gusto or Senseo as they will only be able to work in a Tassimo machine.
How To Reuse Tassimo T-Discs
As Tassimo T-Discs have their barcode on them, lots of people think that they can trick the Tassimo machine into reading the used barcode on another coffee capsule. You can easily take the barcode off and stick it to another capsule. However, this only works with T-Discs.
There are lots of videos online that show how to reuse Tassimo T-Discs with other coffee inside of them, but this method can be very messy and take a lot of time. Reusing the capsules is great for the environment, but this means that Tassimo may not be the machine for you.
Reusing the T-Discs involves making holes in the capsule on either side where you can add coffee inside the T-Disc. Once you have inserted the right amount of coffee inside, people fill the holes in with small rubber plugs.
It isn’t recommended that you try to do this as it can be difficult and could potentially cause damage to your coffee machine as you should only be inserting T-Discs, not rubber. It may also cause harm to you in some instances as the rubber could react badly inside the machine.
Replicating Capsules
Tassimo T-Discs are different from other coffee capsules as they are hard to replicate by brands other than Tassimo due to the barcode that is displayed on the top of the T-Disc.
Other brands can have the shape of the coffee capsule copied by other brands so that they can be used inside their coffee machines. This doesn’t work with Tassimo as you cannot copy the unique barcodes as the Tassimo machine won’t read them.
This ensures that if you have a Tassimo machine, you can only use Tassimo T-Discs, and if you want to use Tassimo T-Discs, you will need a Tassimo coffee machine.
Tassimo Capsules: Compatible Or Not?
Unfortunately, Tassimo T-Discs are not compatible with other coffee machines other than Tassimo. You also cannot use other branded coffee capsules in the Tassimo coffee machine as they will not have the correct barcode.
This means that if you only want to use Tassimo T-Discs for your coffee, then having a Tassimo machine will work well for you. However, if you like to use compatible capsules, you will want to try a different brand of coffee machine.
Machines That Use Compatible Capsules
However and IKOHS Potts are well-known brands of coffee machines, but are you able to use compatible coffee capsules when using them?
The answer is yes! Both of these machines take compatible capsules so that you can choose your coffee and also switch up your routine if you wish. This makes it easier to try new coffee and decide what you like best.
You can use pods from Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, and ground coffee capsules in the machines to give you a range of capsules to choose from when you are looking to try new coffee at home.
Is It Better To Have Compatible Capsules?
Being able to use compatible capsules in your coffee machine means that you can experiment with tastes and different brands of coffee. This helps you to discover what coffee you like best and try capsules that catch your eye.
If you have a machine like Tassimo that is only able to take Tassimo-branded T-Discs, this does limit your options on capsules that you can choose. You are then limited to only buying Tassimo T-Discs when you are buying coffee capsules.
Some people prefer to only buy coffee from one manufacturer, but some people prefer to have a choice. It is up to you what you prefer, but you will need to bear this in mind when you are considering purchasing Tassimo T-Discs or a Tassimo coffee machine.
Final Thoughts
To conclude, Tassimo T-Discs are not compatible with any other coffee machine except for Tassimo machines. This is due to the barcode that is on the lid of the T-Discs that cannot be replicated by other manufacturers.
Although people have found ways of reusing the T-Discs, it can be messy and difficult. If you want to use compatible capsules in your machine, it is advised that you find a coffee machine that uses them as Tassimo may not work best for you.
