Nespresso does really good coffee BUT are the pod’s overpriced?

These Amorcaffe Compatible Nespresso pods cost A LOT less than the originals and taste pretty good as well.

Already tried, tested and recommended by hundreds of people they are well worth a try if you are looking to save money on the high cost of Nespresso POD’s

Once you have made the decision to buy a Nespresso coffee machine you are locked into buying the pods for as long as you have the coffee machine but you don’t have to buy the Nespresso originals.

It is easy to be fooled by the romance and marketing of the Nespresso brand. George Clooney sipping an espresso and the boutique stores beautifully shop fitted to look like Harrods makes you feel as though it is worth paying north of 30p a capsule.

Coffee pods can be a little like wine and Nespresso even call their pods and capsules “gran cru” as part of the marketing to make you believe that you are getting something truly exceptional.

The truth is that the Nespresso original pods are actually very good. As a Nespresso coffee machine owner for many years, I only bought the originals until someone suggested I try the compatibles.

Are you allowed to use compatible pods in your Nespresso machine?

Yes, you are. It’s your coffee machine and you can do whatever you want. It’s not really possible for any other pod to do any damage to your machine because after the coffee extraction the pod just drops into the used pod area.

Are Nespresso compatibles pods as good as the Nespresso original pods?

The honest answer is no, but it is also entirely possible to find a good replacement for the original’s and pay 70% less.

It is all about value for money when you choose Nespresso compatible coffee pods.

For example, these Amorcaffe replacement pods are approximately 70% lower than the price of the Nespresso pods but what if they tasted 70-80% as good?

That means you would be getting a 20% reduction in quality but a 70% reduction in price. That sounds like a pretty good deal to us.

These capsules also come in a cheap cardboard box with no fancy packaging and the pods themselves are plain and cheap looking.

Both of these things are good. Nespresso gives you nice different coloured cardboard tubes and well made thick plastic pods but YOU pay for these things,

At least with the Amorcafe pods you know that the price has been reduced to the minimum possible so that you pay as little as possible.

In our opinion, it doesn’t matter what the packaging or the pods look like as long as they taste good!

These are “espresso” pods so they are going to be on the strong side which is perfect to then add milk to create a cappuccino or latte.

When you are buying compatible pods you should generally steer towards a stronger flavour because a compatible pod stronger flavour is going to be slightly weaker than a Nespresso original strong flavour like say Dharkan.

Even if you don’t normally go for strong as a Nespresso original these may well work perfectly for you.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to individual taste so the only way to know whether you are happy to compromise slightly on taste to get a big saving on price is to give it a go.

These particular compatible Nespresso pods are towards the cheap end of what you can buy so if you try these and you don’t rate them you can always go for something a little more expensive like the L’Or compatible pods that are more expensive than these but are still cheaper than the Nespresso pods.

It is easy to think that they are not going to be very good before you even get them so a tip from us is when they arrive, get someone else to make two coffees. One with these and one with the Nespresso originals. You will be surprised how hard it is to tell the difference when you don’t know which is which!
